SOFIE IN PA

Sofie is a friendly and loving 6 year old ruby girl. She is doing extremely well in foster care. She was overweight at intake, but has now met her weight loss goal and is a fit 19 pounds. She likes to go on daily walks; and is improving her leash skills. She enjoys socializing with new friends while out yard sailing and going to flea markets. She is wonderful with well-behaved children, and other dogs. Her foster family continue to work on Sofie's obedience skills. She is being taught to respond to verbal as well as hand signals for her commands. She loves to sit tight against someone and is happy to remain there and snooze while they watch TV, read or just relax. At surrender Sofie was diagnosed with Lyme disease. She received initial treatment; and will have follow-up testing done in the fall to ensure the infection has cleared before she can be moved to available status. Sofie also needs surgery for a luxating patella in one of her legs. Surgery has not been scheduled yet and she will need at least six weeks to recover after surgery. When she is ready for her forever home she will be moved to Available status. Only applications in the Mid Atlantic region (PA, MD, DE, VA, DC) will be considered.
