Rusty in Pacific

Hi! My Name Is Rusty in Pacific

Rusty is a 15‑year‑old Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose heart is as tender as his pace is slow. He moves through the world with quiet sweetness, always waiting for gentle guidance and gravitating toward the comforting presence of a human nearby. He is not demanding—just grateful for soft voices, warm hands, and a peaceful home where he can feel safe.

Personality & Daily Rhythm

Rusty is gentle, calm, and deeply sweet, always choosing the back row and never pushing for attention.

He enjoys the company of other dogs and has lived peacefully with a cat.

He does not hear well and has extensive cataracts, but he senses kindness instantly and follows the person holding his leash with complete trust.

He loves slow, meandering walks and spends most of his day resting in a soft dog bed.

He is crate‑trained, sleeps through the night, and stays clean in the house when taken out every few hours or when he gives a soft, questioning howl.

Toys don’t interest him—companionship does.

Medical & Comfort Needs

Rusty is a medically fragile senior and will need an adopter who understands the tender care required at this stage of life.

He has late‑stage heart disease and takes Vetmedin.

He has kidney disease and eats a kidney‑friendly diet.

He has significant arthritis and receives Librela injections, along with a low dose of gabapentin for nighttime comfort.

He drinks a lot of water throughout the day.

His ears were infected at intake and are nearly healed.

He has heavy dental tartar, but due to his heart condition, a dental procedure is not recommended.

Rusty’s medical needs are stable, but he requires a home that can maintain his medications, monitor his comfort, and keep his days gentle and predictable.

Ideal Home

Rusty would thrive in a quiet, loving home where someone is present most of the day.

Another calm dog would be a comfort but is not required.

He should not live with young children due to his age and sensory limitations.

He should not be left alone for long stretches; if he must be left, he does best crated for safety.

His perfect family will offer soft routines, slow walks, warm beds, and the reassurance of a steady presence.

A Day With Rusty

Rusty wakes with the morning light, steps out of his crate for a gentle potty break, and takes his medications wrapped in a bit of soft food. He may nibble breakfast or save his appetite for later. Throughout the day, he enjoys freeze‑dried chicken or salmon treats, thin rice cakes, and the comfort of following the other dogs around the house. He rides well in a crate and welcomes new people with quiet acceptance and a willingness to be softly petted.

Why Rusty Matters

Rusty is a deeply sweet old gentleman who asks for very little and gives back a quiet, steady kind of love. He will offer his whole heart to the person who opens theirs to him. He is not looking for adventure—just a soft landing, a warm home, and someone who will cherish him through his golden time.
