Hi! John here. I’m 12 years old and feeling like a new dog! My fosters have done a great job getting me ready for my forever home. I came to rescue very skinny, but a sharp vet realized I had mega esophagus which means the food I ate wasn’t making it to my belly. So my foster dad built me a Bailey Chair which I sit in for 15 minutes after I eat my breakfast and dinner. I’ve gone from 12 to 16 pounds and now I can roam the house and steal the cat’s toys anytime I want to. Being an older man I don’t hear too well and I don’t see at all out of my left eye. I see some out of my right eye thanks to several eye medicines my foster mom gives me every day. So my forever family will have to continue doing that. Being a Cavalier I do have a heart murmur so I’m on Vetmedin now. But I’m a great pill taker, so no worries there.
I love sitting on laps and cuddling up in my foster parents bed at night. I get along with other dogs large and small. And since I can’t see the cat, well she doesn’t bother me. Before I came to rescue I had to live outdoors all the time. I now want my retirement years to be spent with someone who will be with me as much as possible so I can get and give back all the love I feel inside for someone who cuddles me on their lap.
If you live within reasonable driving distance of northern Virginia and want to adopt a sweet lovable dog, please fill out an adoption application on our website. I look forward to trying out your lap. John.
