Jefferson in Southeast

Jefferson is an adorable 8-year-old Tri-Color Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. This sweet boy is the definition of laid-back and lovable. His two favorite things in life? Mealtime (he takes this very seriously!) and being a couch potato. Currently weighing in at 27 lbs, Jefferson and his dedicated foster are working together to help him reach a healthier weight. Don’t let his extra fluff fool you though—he’s housebroken, crate trained, and incredibly polite around the house. Jefferson came with the crate he’s had since puppyhood, and still sleeps in it at night with the door open in the bedroom. (Though between us, he’s definitely hoping for a chance to curl up on the bed one day!) He’s a friendly and gentle soul, great with people, kids, other dogs, and even cats. He walks nicely on a leash and harness, knows his name, and even a few basic commands. A true Cavalier at heart, Jefferson is happiest when he’s near his people—though he’s not overly clingy, he’ll never turn down an invitation to snuggle. One of Jefferson’s quirks is his strong sense of routine. He knows exactly when it's mealtime and isn’t shy about letting you know if you’re a minute late—complete with some enthusiastic “hurry up!” barks. He’s still adjusting to the rhythms of his foster home, but he's learning to be flexible (somewhat reluctantly!). When his foster didn’t go into the home office over the weekend, Jefferson sat in front of the office door barking as if to say, “Excuse me, aren’t you forgetting something?” It’s just his way of making sure everything runs on time. Going outside just for fun? Jefferson says, “Hard pass”—unless he really has to go. He'd rather keep his paws clean and chill indoors. In short, Jefferson is a typical Cavalier boy: loyal, easygoing, and endlessly endearing. He doesn’t demand constant attention, but he’d love nothing more than to be your quiet companion—right next to you on the couch, or just a few steps away. Please note: Jefferson is not quite ready for adoption just yet. He has a heart murmur that we’re currently monitoring and addressing through veterinary care. We’re committed to ensuring he receives the best possible support before he’s matched with his forever family.
