Just like the Robert Palmer song, Allie is "Simply Irresistible". Now, many of you potential adoptive families out there may just skip over Allie because she is a little older than some of the other dogs on our site (9ish). But, as her foster mom says she is an affectionate gal with an expression in her eyes that just makes you happy. She is heart clear, NO MURMUR. She was pretty obese at intake. Weight loss food and walking have so far helped her lose over 3 1/2 pounds! Her target weight is 19 1/2 - 20 pounds, and we are confident that she will reach that weight quickly. She takes a joint supplement once daily to help her artritis in her back legs. She has been doing physical therapy to build up her back leg muscles. She would prefer a home with just a maybe two steps or none due to her artritis. It also limits her ability to jump onto furniture. She is happy to lay at your feet or on her dog bed and if you're not nearby she does better crated. Her house manners are perfect, aside from her keen sense to explore. She is crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. She rides quietly in the car, has done well meeting people of all ages on her socialization and evaluation trips out and about in town. The only thing is she barks at the foster's cat, and squirrels, so she probably would do best in a feline-free home. When not being supervised she needs to be crated to limit her exploration skills. She'll help you sort recycling from the trash too. Nothing is beyond her adventurous side. Most importantly, she will thrive with people who will love her and give her a safe and stable home. One other dog in the family would be okay, as well as a family with well-behaved children over age 8. If you will open your heart to Allie she will repay your kindness a thousand times over. She will love you with every adoring look and wag of her tail. Allie can only be placed in the Mid-Atlantic region, (Pa, Va, Md, D.C. or De) If you live in one if these states and think that you could be Allie's forever home, Please Apply!
