🐾 Adoption Information

Rescue Cavaliers come to us from a variety of circumstances — shelters, owner surrenders due to financial hardship, health issues, or the passing of a loved one, and legal seizures. While the reasons vary, what matters most is that each dog is given a second chance at love and a forever family.

If you’re interested in adopting a Cavalier, please complete our Preliminary Adoption Application. Our Applications Review Team wastes no time — if you’re a good candidate for our program, you’ll hear from us quickly. We do have a screening process, and our first priority is placing the right dog in the right home.

If you’re willing to travel and we have a match for you, we may place a dog outside your geographic area once you meet our qualifications. Please note: we do not take phone calls regarding available dogs.

In most cases, we require adoptive families to have a secure fenced yard where the dog can safely exercise and play.

Many Cavaliers surrendered to the Rescue Trust have not been properly socialized and may struggle to adjust to home life. Most are not suitable for families with small children. Because of these challenges, many dogs remain in foster care longer than our minimum three-week requirement to ensure they’re truly ready for adoption.

Dogs not quite ready for adoption will be listed in The Recovery Room. Even if no dogs are currently listed in your region, we may have Cavaliers in foster care being readied for placement. We typically do not list dogs until they are emotionally and medically prepared.

We are the experts in matching dogs to families. You will not be able to choose a specific dog — except for gender preference — but we will work with you to find the right dog for the right home. Always.

We do not charge adoption fees, as we are not in the business of selling dogs. We also do not buy dogs from anyone or anywhere.

📋 Veterinary Records and Health Disclosure Statement

As a rescue, we provide all veterinary records available to us — both those obtained during the dog’s time in our care and any prior records we’ve received. These records are shared so you, your veterinarian, and your insurance provider can make informed decisions about whether this dog is the right fit for your home.

We do not provide statements of health or health guarantees. Dogs are living, breathing beings — and rescue dogs often come with health issues, especially when they’ve come from situations where regular veterinary care was not provided. In many cases, we have no medical history beyond what we’ve obtained during their time with us.

Our commitment is to transparency. We will always share what we know, but we cannot speculate or certify what we don’t.

Thank you for understanding — and for considering adoption with care, patience, and compassion.
