Kingston Southeast

Hi! My Name Is Kingston Southeast

I'm Available

Kingston is a bright, joyful young Cavalier who has charmed his foster family from the moment he arrived. At just 10 years old, he is playful, affectionate, and wonderfully people‑oriented. His favorite pastime is carrying around his beloved stuffed bear, proudly presenting it for you to toss so he can race after it again. He is gentle, sweet‑natured, and eager to be part of whatever his humans are doing.

Temperament & Personality

Kingston is exceptionally friendly and social. He greets new people with enthusiasm and warmth—sometimes a bit too enthusiastically, as he’s still learning not to jump up for attention. He has been calm and polite when meeting other dogs on walks, showing curiosity without reactivity. His fosters describe him as one of the smartest and most loving Cavaliers they’ve known.

He is not a barker. In fact, the only time he reliably “speaks” is when he wants you to throw his toy.

Hearing Loss

Kingston is deaf, and his fosters recognized this quickly. He does not respond to verbal cues, but he is highly motivated to learn and is already beginning to understand basic visual and hand‑signal communication. His foster dad, a former Army dog handler, and foster mom, who has experience teaching sign language, report that Kingston is eager to please and tries very hard to understand what is being asked of him.

Because he cannot hear danger approaching, Kingston will need a home committed to visual training, safety awareness, and thoughtful supervision.

House Manners & Daily Life

Kingston is beautifully house‑trained. He will sit by the door when he needs to go out and has had no accidents in his foster home. Indoors, he spends much of his day napping on the couch where he can keep an eye on his people. He sleeps through the night in his dog bed and wakes up quietly.

He has not been crated in his foster home but has done well when left alone for short periods, settling on the couch or curling up on a favorite sweatshirt or slipper.

On leash, Kingston likes to take the lead and explore, but he is responsive and willing when guided.

Health

He has a grade 1–2 heart murmur, which is asymptomatic and does not require medication at this time.

His appetite is modest, and he currently prefers one meal a day.

Ideal Home

Kingston will thrive in a calm, attentive home that understands or is willing to learn about living with a deaf dog. His fosters strongly recommend:

Either being an only dog or living with one friendly, confident hearing dog who can help him navigate the world.

A home where he receives consistent companionship and is not left alone for long stretches.

A safe environment where his inability to hear cars, animals, or hazards is taken seriously.

He has not been tested with children or other animals. A quieter home with adults or older teens would likely suit him best.

Overall

Kingston is a tenderhearted, intelligent, deeply affectionate Cavalier who wants nothing more than to be close to his people. His fosters describe him as “an overall charmer,” and it’s easy to see why. With a family who appreciates his special needs and celebrates his joyful spirit, Kingston will blossom into a devoted, delightful companion.
