🧡 About Winston

Winston is a 4‑year‑old neutered male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has just arrived in rescue and is not yet ready for adoption. He still needs a dental and is receiving treatment for ear and skin infections, along with some much‑needed reassurance and stability after a confusing stretch in his life.

Even at four, Winston is a delightful mix of laid‑back snuggler and high‑energy chatterbox. He has a whole vocabulary of growls, grunts, whines, snorts, and barks that all translate to “I need something” or “Please notice me.” His foster family says he keeps them laughing with his nonstop commentary and big personality.

He adores people and wants to be as close as possible. He jumps into laps with or without toys, snuggles at night, and follows his person from room to room. He’s crate trained, appears housebroken, walks nicely on a leash, and rides beautifully in the car.

Winston gets along with other Cavaliers and has ignored the household cat. He did react strongly during a disagreement with a Boxer and did not back down, so careful placement is important.

He proudly carries toys as big as he is, trots around with them, and then hops right back into a lap.

🩺 Medical & Care

Winston came into rescue needing some attention:

Bilateral ear infections

Skin infections on his tummy and tail

Dental scheduled for 2/11

Recently neutered and still healing

Underweight and working on gaining a few pounds

In need of a full bath and grooming once cleared

He currently only eats dry kibble—no treats, toppers, wet food, or hidden‑pill tricks. Medication must be given by hand. He eats twice a day, with extra kibble offered in his crate to help with weight gain.

🏡 Ideal Home

Winston is sensitive, confused, and trying hard to understand why his world keeps changing. With patience, consistency, and love, he will blossom—but he needs the right environment.

At this time, Winston would do best:

With adults only or families with children 15+

As an only dog, or possibly with a very calm, non‑dominant small dog

In a home without large‑breed dogs

With someone who is home often—he becomes sad when left alone

With an adopter open to using a trainer if needed as he decompresses

He prefers being indoors near his person, but will stay outside if you’re out there too. He has greeted everyone in his foster home politely and enjoys meeting new people—especially if cuddles are involved.
