7‑year‑old Male • Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Charlie is a newly arrived gentleman in rescue, and we’re just beginning to learn who he is and what he needs to thrive. During his intake exam, Charlie was diagnosed with a grade 4–5 heart murmur, so he will be seeing a cardiology specialist for further evaluation. He will also be neutered once his medical team determines it is safe. While he settles into foster care and completes his veterinary workup, Charlie is not yet ready for adoption. We’ll continue to share updates as we learn more about this sweet boy.
💖 Personality & Temperament
Charlie is a friendly, people‑oriented Cavalier who loves being near his humans. He’ll follow you from room to room simply to be in your presence, and he greets new people with calm confidence. He doesn’t jump up, isn’t fearful, and enjoys gentle pets and attention. He’s indifferent to other dogs and seems content to coexist without much interest in canine companionship.
🏡 Training & Manners
Charlie knows his name, comes when called, and offers a nice “sit.” He appears to be housebroken, though he may mark in a home with other male dogs—something that may improve after neuter. He walks beautifully on leash with no pulling, barking, or reactivity. In the car, he’s a quiet, easy traveler.
Charlie did show some resource guarding when given a high‑value bone, growling if another dog or person approached. His foster is monitoring this behavior as he settles in.
🩺 Health & Current Needs
Charlie is quite itchy, and his foster has been working with our veterinary team to keep him comfortable. Benadryl has helped, and we’re exploring whether poor‑quality food or past neglect may be contributing to his skin irritation. He has been hesitant to eat and needed some hand‑feeding early on, but we’re hopeful that improved nutrition, hygiene, and routine will help him feel better.
Because of his newly diagnosed heart murmur, Charlie will undergo specialist evaluation before any decisions are made about his long‑term care plan.
🌿 Daily Life & Preferences
Charlie enjoys going for walks and meeting new people—he even trotted over to greet a neighbor with enthusiasm. He’s calm in the car and seems to enjoy little outings. As he continues to decompress, we expect more of his personality to shine through.
🏠 Ideal Home
It’s too early to determine what type of home will suit Charlie best. As we learn more about his medical needs, behavior, and preferences, we’ll update his profile with clearer guidance.
