Katie Mae is a tender-hearted little lady who finds joy in the quiet comforts of life. At six years old, she has perfected the art of relaxation—her favorite pastime is curling up in a soft bed to watch the world go by. She’s content to observe her foster siblings from her cozy spot, occasionally giving a gentle bark if they wander too close, but otherwise blending peacefully into the pack when she’s up and about.
🌸 Personality
Mellow and sweet, Katie Mae is not a “velcro dog.” She enjoys affection but prefers you come to her for scratches and cuddles.
She coexists calmly with feline housemates, choosing to politely ignore them.
A quiet presence, she asks for very little and gives back endless gentleness in return.
🐾 Special Considerations
Katie Mae has some neurological challenges that make her gait unsteady, compounded by grade 4 luxating patellas in both back legs. She also experiences phantom itching and moves with a unique, wobbly walk. Because of this, she has not yet been leash-walked, and commands have not been tested. She is currently working on short crate sessions and may display flight behavior when nervous.
Her daily routine includes:
Eating from an elevated, tilted bowl to help her brachiocephalic frame enjoy every bite.
Twice-daily medication for dry eye.
Antibiotics in preparation for a much-needed dental.
Beef and sweet potato treats—her absolute favorites!
Despite her mobility challenges, Katie Mae has had no accidents indoors, thanks to regular trips to the fenced yard where she ambles to find her potty spot.
🏡 Ideal Home
Katie Mae will thrive in a patient, loving home that understands her limitations and celebrates her gentle spirit. She would love:
A fenced yard for safe, leisurely potty breaks.
Plenty of soft spaces to nap and observe her world.
A calm environment where she can move at her own pace.
💖 Why You’ll Love Her
Katie Mae is a kind soul who asks for nothing more than comfort and care. Her wobbly walk and medical needs don’t diminish her sweetness—if anything, they make her resilience even more endearing. She is content to simply be near you, a quiet companion who will fill your home with warmth.
