Daphne is a delightful 3-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is ready to bring love, laughter, and companionship into her future family’s life. This sweet girl is affectionately known as a “love bug” for her constant desire to be near her humans. Daphne will happily lay at your feet while you work, and she thrives on attention and affection from everyone she meets—yes, even the vet!
Daphne has an exuberant and playful spirit. She loves to run, play, and roll around in the grass when the sun is shining. Small squeaky toys are her favorite, although she has a funny sense of playtime: she’ll lunge at the toy, carry it around proudly, and then quickly abandon it to snuggle on your lap. Her playful quirks don’t stop there; Daphne sometimes spins in circles when excited, whether it’s mealtime or when she’s being let out of her crate in the morning. She seems to be rediscovering the joys of play, which makes every moment with her even more special.
Daphne is housebroken but will need to be taken outside every 2-3 hours. She loves positive praise and is a quick learner, making training a rewarding experience for both her and her future owner. She is currently learning basic commands like sit, stay, and how to use a doggie door. That said, Daphne is still healing from her recent spay and hasn’t been walked on a leash yet due to her temporary quarantine from the other dogs in her current home.
Escape Artist Extraordinaire!
One important thing to know about Daphne is her knack for escaping. She’s clever and agile, able to climb foldable pet fencing, baby gates, and even her crate if it’s covered with a towel. Her future home will need secure barriers and attentive care to keep her safely contained. Be cautious when opening doors, as Daphne is quick and can skirt around your legs before you even notice!
Daphne gets along well with other dogs, though like many Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, she prefers the company of humans. Her behavior around cats and other animals is unknown. She’s shown no fear or sensitivity, even during thunderstorms, and is adaptable in a variety of situations. She loves meeting new people and eagerly seeks their attention.
Daphne currently doesn’t require any medication beyond standard flea, tick, and heartworm preventative treatments. Daphne has a slight underbite that adds to her charm. While she tends to get diarrhea easily due to dietary changes, a consistent feeding routine should resolve this issue.
Daphne enjoys grooming sessions and appears to have been groomed in the past, which makes her easy to handle in that regard. Once her suture heals, she’ll be ready for a bath! For now, she’s a fan of Fresh Pet chicken bites and is enthusiastic about mealtime.
Daphne would thrive in a home where she is the center of attention, ideally with someone who is home most of the time. She would do well with respectful children who understand how to interact gently with animals. Her adaptable nature makes her a great fit for a variety of family dynamics. A secure yard where she can safely play would be a dream come true for Daphne.
Start Daphne’s morning with a potty break, followed by her favorite activity—breakfast! After eating, she’s ready to run around, play with her toys, and enjoy some outdoor sunshine. Midday, she’ll appreciate a small lunch and a long nap. In the evening, she’s fairly calm and enjoys spending time with her humans. Daphne travels well in a crate during car rides, though she may squeak a little before settling down.
Whether it’s spinning in circles when excited, joyfully digging in the toy basket, or her adorable morning routine, Daphne’s playful personality will surely win your heart. Her current foster parent even joked about naming her “Minx” because of her clever antics and speed!
Daphne is ready to find her forever home where she can continue to blossom and share her love. If you’re looking for an affectionate, playful, and endlessly entertaining companion, Daphne might just be your perfect match.
