Cardi is an active girl who enjoys playtime. She loves to play fetch, even with small, soft frisbees, and shows interest in a variety of other toys. She also likes Benna bones, though she can be a bit protective of them, letting out a growl or charging at her four-legged friends if they get too close. However, Cardi is generally good at sharing her food with other dogs, though cats are a different story. While she gets along with feline friends, she prefers they keep their paws off her food.
Cardi loves being with her human as much as possible, making her the ultimate companion. While she may fuss a little when left in her crate, gentle reminders that you'll be back soon help calm her down. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her crate, as long as it’s in the same room as her beloved human. A fair warning – this sweet girl does snore at a medium volume, but it’s just another endearing part of her personality.
Cardi is making great strides with her training. She’s learning to enter her crate on command and is improving in her walking and potty habits on a lead. While she can be a bit hesitant to enter or exit doorways without her human leading the way, this behavior is also progressing with patience and encouragement. In the yard or garden, Cardi may try to nibble or play with vegetation but responds well to a firm “no” or “leave it.”
Cardi would thrive in a home with a human who can give her the love and attention she craves. She needs someone patient who will continue her training and help her feel secure. While she gets along well with other dogs, she may do best in a home where her love for Benna bones can be respected. Cardi’s relationship with cats is generally good, as long as they don’t try to steal her food.
Cardi does have lyme disease, though she is being treated and doing well.
