Hi everyone, Lincoln here. I’m almost eight years old and very handsome. I am being fostered in the northern Virginia area right now so only applicants within a two hour drive of south eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, or northern Virginia should apply to adopt me.
In my previous life, I lived as an only dog. I want to find a new forever human who has had dog experience and will be patient and give me time to adjust into my new home and routine. I, like many older people, am not fond of change; when I get overwhelmed I head to my crate. When I rejoin the household I love to play fetch, go on walks, and have my belly rubbed. It took me 6 weeks to be comfortable jumping on the sofa and snuggle next to my fosters. I’m a great companion if you have the patience to give me time and space to work out my place in a new situation.
I’m very excited to be with Rescue since I get lots of walks every day and have lots of new toys to play with. My fosters are great! I was a bit chubby when I came to Rescue so I have joined Doggie Weight Watchers. ( trying to lose my Covid body). Due to the great long walks and lots of exercise fetching toys I have lost 4 and a half pounds! I still need to keep on the program, but the fosters say that they are beginning to see a hint of a waist. They also believe that trimming down will help with the snoring I do when asleep.
My new vet says I have no heart murmur and all my patellas are in great shape. My ear canals are narrowed so I’m partially deaf. I’d love a home with a fenced yard so I can roam at will. But if you promise to take me for long walks every day, I would be okay in an apartment or townhouse. I love belly rubs! Can’t get enough of those. I’m used to being an only dog, so I need lots of attention. I wouldn’t be happy being part of a pack. I’m not fond of young children since I had a bad experience with a child falling on me. Older kids are okay, though.
