HOW YOU CAN HELP
The ACKCS Rescue Trust works actively to help as many displaced Cavaliers as we can. Our very dedicated rescue volunteers donate their time, effort and heart to do all of the work. All of our rescue workers are volunteers. There are no paid positions in rescue. There are many ways you can help.
Please take a moment or two to think about how you can help. Please encourage your friends and your clubs to support Cavalier rescue. Here are some of the ways you may be able to help.
♦ Foster Homes are always needed. These must be people who are familiar with the breed and with working with dogs in need who sometimes have health problems.
♦ Training and/or temperament testing. This must be done by a qualified person.
♦ Shelter or other on site visits to evaluate dogs potentially coming into rescue.
♦ Home Checks to evaluate a potential foster or adoptive home.
♦ Transportation. We often have to transport a dog or dogs to another area, to the veterinarian, to a foster home, or to a new permanent home.
♦ Educating Prospective adopters in the care of a rescue dog and some of the problems, as well as the joys, they might encounter. This is vital for successful adoptions.
♦ Work with current Cavalier owners who are having problems with their dog in order to successfully solve the problem to keep the dog in the home rather than taking him/her into rescue.
♦ Publicity. Positive publicity for our rescue program helps to educate others who may not have thought about how they could be involved with rescue.
♦ Organizing events and conducting fundraisers.
♦ Providing gift cards to pet stores.
♦ Providing gas gift cards for our volunteers.
♦ Helping to pay boarding costs for dogs that have to be boarded prior to being placed in foster care.
♦ Making donations for veterinary care.
