TWENTY NINE DOGS

In early December, the ACKCS Rescue Trust quietly accepted 29 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels from a Commercial Breeder in Northern California.  Volunteers from California, Arizona, Oregon and Washington were at the ready and we are extremely grateful to them.   Director Molly Hughes worked around the clock for several days distributing dogs to foster homes and transporting them with help of volunteers in California.

At this point in time, many of the 29 Cavaliers are still in foster care in California.  The slide show gives a good representation of the dogs we took in over those few cold days in early December.

These dogs were not socialized properly and are having some difficulty adjusting to home situations.  Most will not be suitable for families with small children.   They need a safe and secure fenced yard to play in.  After being made ready for adoption, families who have a preliminary adoption application on file will be contacted.  We ask that you be patient in this process.  Because of the lack of socialization and the difficult transition the dogs are having, we expect many of the dogs will need to remain in foster care for a much longer time than we had initially hoped.  The dogs range in age from 9 months to 9 years.

Other areas may also have dogs available.  Please check the individual pages for those regions listed in the box to the left titled "Available By Regions."

If you are interested in any of the dogs, please complete the preliminary adoption application.  If we have something for you, contact will be made as soon as we have a dog ready that might match with your request.  Again, we ask for your patience.  Good things are worth waiting for.
