THE DOGS
Rescue Cavaliers come from a number of places. Some may come from shelters, others, through no fault of their own, need to find a new home due to the divorce, death, or incapacity of their owners. Many come from commercial breeders who can no longer sell their puppies easily due to the economy. Others may come from people who have seen this cute little puppy in a pet store window and bought it on impulse, giving little thought to the fact that the puppy would have to be socialized, housebroken and trained, and will demand the attention of their owner.
More dogs are coming into rescue than ever before. They are usually not puppies, but adults. Adopting an older dog, even with issues, can be a very rewarding experience.
If you are i nterested in adopting any Cavalier through the ACKCS Rescue Trust, you will need to do at least three things: Read "Is A Rescue Cavalier The Right Dog For You?" and "How Rescue Has Changed" and then complete a preliminary adoption application. Please give this decision some real thought and consideration prior to completing that application.
Keep in touch with the Director for the region you reside in. Be patient. It may take a long time, but it will be worth it.
